An anti-capitalist demonstration in London ahead of next week's G8 summit has led to scuffles and 32 arrests.
The West End saw running confrontations between police and protesters.
Police used chainsaws to break into a building occupied by some members of the StopG8 network.
One man was tackled on the roof as he apparently tried to jump off.
StopG8 describes itself as an anti-capitalist network "made up of autonomous groups and individuals".
It had had called for people to "show their anger" outside addresses including banks, and defence and mining companies, as part of a "Carnival against Capitalism" before leaders from the world's wealthiest countries meet next week.
"We need these decisions to be made in a democratic way, transparent way. We don't need a very elite group of actors making decisions for everybody," said a female protester.
"The current system that we have allows people to accumulate wealth at rate faster than they can spend it, whilst other people in the world are starving," a man said.
"They're corrupt. It doesn't matter where they meet, they're corrupt and they're making decisions that affect my life, my children's lives, your lives," added another woman.
