Nellore Chepala Pulusu. Tangy Andhra Style Telugu Fish curry in tamarind Sauce. Chepala Pulusu or Fish Pulusu is a spicy and tangy popular Andhra Style fish curry, especially in the district of Nellore. Unique traditional taste and flavor to the dish. This Andhra fish curry is an inviting treat for seafood lovers and can be a perfect side dish for white rice, appam, dosa, idli, roti, and similar dishes for lunch and dinner.
Chepala/Fish Pulusu is one of the most flavorful and tastiest South Indian seafood dishes of Andhra and Telangana Cuisine particularly from the region of Nellore. The word Chepala means fish and Pulusu means tamarind gravy. So Chepala Pulusu is nothing but fresh fish simmered in a spicy and tangy tamarind sauce.
This Andhra fish curry is prepared with a generous amount of spices that make the curry glowing red and of course spicy.
ingredients
fish 2 1/2 kg
Oil as required
cumin seeds 1 tsp
mustard seeds 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tsp
turmeric powder pinch
Onions 2 big sized
curry leaves bunch
green chillies 4 to 5
ginger garlic paste 1tsp
Tomatoes 2 medium sized
salt as required
red chilli powder
coriander powder
tamarind 150gms seed less
water as required
chopped coriander
raw mango pieces
preparation
take a big kadai add Oil as required once was heated add cumin seeds 1 tsp, mustard seeds 1 tsp, Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tsp, turmeric powder pinch mix it fry it on low flame. Now add Onions 2 big sized slices, curry leaves bunch and green chillies 4 to 5. Now fry this Onions for 2 mins then after add ginger garlic paste 1tsp. Now add Tomatoes 2 medium sized Finely chopped & mix it properly. At this stage add salt as required, red chilli powder & coriander powder combine it and cook for 5 mins on high flame. Now add tamarind extract mix it and add water as required. Cover with lid in the mean time take a pan add cumin seeds, mustard seeds & Fenugreek seeds. Fry this Ingredients on low flame, then after blend into course powder. Now remove the lid and add the prepared powder. Now at this moment add fish pieces one by in to gravy. Mix it with help of hand. Now add raw mango pieces and cook for untill it comes to near. Now add chopped coriander turn-off the flame serve with hot rice.
