Rallies and street battles broke out across Bangladesh as protesters mount pressure to suspend general elections set for January 5. Anti-government critics say Prime Minister Sheik Hasina will rig the elections and demand she resigns beforehand. Hasina has thusfar turned down the calls and denied accusations.
