D’Addario’s Nylon Tapewound bass strings are the fattest, roundest strings I’ve ever used. As you can hear in these demos, these strings have incredible low end, a growling attack, and yet they stay out of the guitar's way. Not only that, but another reason these are the best bass strings is that they feel really smooth to the touch.

As I note in my review of D'Addario's Nylon Tapewound strings, there are a few drawbacks. First, you can't get much string noise sound, if that's part of your style. Second, they seem to be a little weird when it comes to bending. Finally, the strings don't stay in tune quite as well as traditional strings.
Nonetheless, these are my new favorite bass strings because of their incredible rich, low tone and ease of play.
