While the history of Europe is filled with instances where the English and the French were either at each other’s throats or indirectly competing for territory, the relationship between England and France has been one of allied friendship for the past 200 years and further strengthened with significant new peace agreements signed in 1904, just a decade before the First World War. However, with the UK’s recent leaving from the European Union and France appearing to be committed to remaining a part of the Union, we may be starting to see some cracks in the outlooks of these two countries.
