Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Thursday he would share data from models predicting the rate and spread of infection from the novel coronavirus, telling reporters the data that will be released on Friday would be “stark.”
“It’s going to be a very sobering discussion,” the premier said.
Ford said he hoped the information unveiled Friday by medical professionals would convince Ontarians who have not been heeding advice from health officials to stay home and engage in physical distancing.
Ford said he waited to release the data so that medical officials could compile the most accurate data to share with Ontarians.
The premier also said Thursday his government would invest $12 million to expand online mental health supports for people impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and will provide dedicated therapy for frontline workers.
