Giorgio Sancristoforo plays an original song, called "Aphrodite of the Gardens" ("Αφροδίτη εν Κήποις" in ancient Greek), composed and performed on a LUTHIEROS Kithara of the Golden Age.
It is a dreamy melody, inspired by the Greek goddess Aphrodite, and her role in the regenerative nature of Spring, as a patron of garden fertility.
Acropolis of Athens held a sanctuary dedicated to Aphrodite of the Gardens, with her magnificent statue near the temple and a quite rare depiction of her, a herm (a stone block depicting her torso and head only). The latter probably played a key role in the creation of a male mythological character, Hermaphroditos. Relatively unknown is also the fact that Aphrodite had a male version, called Aphroditos, a mythological figure who came to Athens from Cyprus in the late 5th century BC.
