The Image: The almost Edward Hopper-like facade of Arthur Agee's humble apartment building in Westchester, Illinois - bathed in rich pre-dawn darkness ([ Ссылка ]) - and of course the train that rumbles by ([ Ссылка ]) - somehow so American and fecund in my silly little mind.
And then we see Arthur getting up in the early hours ([ Ссылка ]) to start the 90 minute commute to St. Joseph High School miles away because he dares to dream. We glimpse his younger brother still asleep in his little cot. Somehow quite moving...
And then the very long trek to college - almost like an odyssey.
And of course, Arthur finally getting to play basketball - I can see the beauty and grace even if I do really understand it: [ Ссылка ]
And of course, I like this image - the ghost blur: [ Ссылка ]
I only really watched this documentary because Roger Ebert loved it so, explaining that even if you do not follow basketball or even like documentaries you should watch this ([ Ссылка ]). Well perhaps being a Brit I know nothing about basketball, but certainly I do get the American national obsession it is - and how so many dreams are forged - and broken on its legendary anvil.
