Masakazu Toi, MD, PhD, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan, discusses the emerging role of nonsurgical ablation in breast cancer treatment. Recently approved in Japan, radiofrequency ablation is used for early-stage luminal A type, node-negative breast cancer. New research also explores combining ablation techniques, such as cryoablation with immunotherapy, showing promising results. This interview took place at the 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Breast Cancer Annual Congress in Berlin, Germany.
