The Midland, Michigan Flood of May 18, 2020 and other weather broadcast memories. Long story short. Several damns and dikes burst following very heavy rains along the Tittabawassee [TIT-AH-BAH-WAH-SEE] River on May 17, 2020. I drove up from Kalamazoo, Michigan on assignment as a one man band to cover the concerning situation. This was at a time when I was a weather reporter and field producer with the AccuWeather TV network, and also, amidst a very trying time for everyone during the 2020 pandemic. Fortunately, like all natural disasters, this one passed, people cleaned up and moved on with their lives as best as they could... myself included.
Additional multimedia from a 1973 WZZM ABC 13 11 p.m. videotape air check (aka a recording of the live news broadcast at the station).
