1) Digitally Zoom On Cell Phone - Anytime you put your fingers together and then separate them when taking a photo on your cell phone, your using digital zoom. Unlike optical zoom, digital zoom degrades the image and decreases the resolution. Digital zoom simply crops into the image. Optical zooms in using the actual camera lens which is why optical zoom maintains the same image resolution when zoomed in. Don’t use digital zoom. If possible, walk closer to the subject you’re photographing.

2) Use Cheap Lenses - Having good lenses, aka “good glass,” will usually do more to help you get good image quality than buying an expensive camera. I often see beginning photographers buy Expensive cameras and use cheap lenses. Do the opposite. Good lenses will last you a long long time and not become obsolete so quickly. Whereas new and better cameras are released all the time.

3) Use On-Camera Flash - The worst place to use your flash is mounted on your camera. It is better to learn off-camera lighting.
