"It is with great pleasure that I announce that we the leaders gathered here today in Pittsburgh have decided to hold a G20 summit for 2010 in November in (South) Korea, because as you know, Korea will be the host of the G20. I am aware that there were issues that needed to be ironed out, but in the end we unanimously came to this final decision, and I am greatly pleased and would like to thank everyone."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Stephen Harper, Canadian Prime Minister:
"As you know, next year Canada is hosting a G8 summit in picturesque Muskoka, Ontario. Today I'm pleased to announce that Canada will also host a G20 summit in June of 2010, a summit that we will co-chair with the Republic of Korea. This represents an unprecedented opportunity for Canada to demonstrate leadership; leadership as we continue to work on the economy, leadership in defining the path forward."

STORYLINE:
South Korea and Canada will both host G20 summit meetings next year, the countries' leaders announced on Friday.
South Korean President Lee Myung-bak said his nation would host a gathering of the world's 20 largest economies in November 2010.
"I am aware that there were issues that needed to be ironed out, but in the end we unanimously came to this final decision," Lee said.
South Korea will take over the chairmanship of the G20 next year.
Canada will also host a G20 summit in June 2010, which it will co-chair with South Korea, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced.
"This represents an unprecedented opportunity for Canada to demonstrate leadership," he said.
The G20 meeting in Canada will take place on the sidelines of the G8 summit in Muskoka, the leaders said.
The meeting in South Korea in November will be the fifth gathering of the G20 since it was created last year to help tackle the global financial crisis.
Lee and Harper made their announcement during the current G20 summit in the US city of Pittsburgh.
It comes as the G20 leaders decided on Friday that the forum will now serve as the board of directors on global economic cooperation, a function that for more than three decades had been performed by the G8.
The shift recognises the rising influence of countries such as China, South Korea and India.
The members of the G8 - the US, Japan, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Canada and Russia - will continue to meet on matters of common importance such as national security.
President Barack Obama initiated the move, to be announced on Friday, according to a White House fact sheet.
The measure underscores how the world's balance of power has shifted since a small club of wealthy, industrial countries began meeting in the mid-1970s in an effort to respond to oil shocks, stagflation and other economic crises of that period.
