French President Francois Hollande and senior members of his government have attended a memorial ceremony near the cafe La Belle Equipe, one of the targets in last year's attacks that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds.
Prime Minister Manuel Valls, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo accompanied Hollande at the ceremony, where the President unveiled a plaque and laid a wreath in memory of the victims.
La Belle Equipe was one of six cafes attacked in eastern Paris during last year's attacks.
Sombre ceremonies were taking place across France on Sunday to mark the attack's first anniversary.
