The income threshold for veterans on VA unemployability is $13,590. per year. Veterans who make less than this amount may be eligible for benefits if they are unable to work due to a service-connected disability. Veterans who make more than the income threshold may still be eligible for benefits if they can show that their disability prevents them from working at a substantially gainful level.

In addition, the VA also looks at a veteran's assets when determining whether they qualify for VA unemployability benefits. So even if a veteran's income is above the poverty guidelines, if their assets are low, they may still be eligible for VA unemployability benefits.
