I believe Abraham Darby is one of the best smelling and prettiest English roses out there, it grows really tall and wide in my garden, here it’s accompanied by Orange Dream maple and Red Star clematis. It’s very prolific and basically flowers all summer. I have a few more Abbys in other parts of the garden but this one is the oldest, about 7 years old.
St. Swithun, the pale pink English rose is for me the best smelling rose, it smells like sweet buttery candy.. It took about 3 years to get established and I’m hoping for a lovely display this year as I positioned a few long canes horizontally. It is accompanied by Piilu clematis in this video.
The next one is a bright pink climbing rose purchased as Giardina from Tantau but it looks nothing like it so I’m not sure what it is- but a huge climber with nicely smelling vibrant pink rosette blooms.
The last rose is a creamy-peachy Wollerton Old Hall, beautiful scent but it has yet to impress me, hopefully this year as it’s about 3 years old. It’s growing with the purple Moniuszko clematis.
