A program in Pennsylvania, the District 1199C Training & Upgrading Fund, may provide the blueprint for a better way forward for adults looking to continue their education and career.
That pathway can include an apprenticeship program, like the one that Katzin is enrolled in, which offers benefits: academic advising and tutoring, 18 college credits that can be earned on the job, and an accelerated path to an associate’s degree.
By pairing college credits with on-the-clock apprenticeship, students can earn their education degree at a fraction of the cost of a traditional college — and money at the same time.

Editor’s note: At 1:52, the video incorrectly refers to District 1199C Training and Upgrading Fund as the District 1199C Training and Development Fund. We regret the error and have edited the closed captioning to reflect the correct organization name.
