Slaves of Freedom - Iron Bars (2004)
From album “ the last Stages”
Slaves begun in Januany 2000 as a group ot friends getting together-to jam. After only two months, the band, then called Premonitiom, began playing shows all around southem LA They soon changed their name to slaves ot Freedom, and began building a loyal following of listeners for their music. They pummled crowds
with their style or southern fried thrash that was well captured on their debut album 2000’s bringing Down the Sun.
After recording, Slaves set out to perfom and promote in support of their debut. They played extensively around the southeast US. and began writing mate-rial for their second release. Ater working through a lineup change where they enlisted the talents of bassis and producer Jason Ogle, Slaves began focusing
more seriously on ther new style. They encorporated blues, doom, and stoner rock aspects into their thrash roots; thus making their music less edgy and more laid back
and groovin'. In November of 2oo2, slaves of Freedom once again entered the studio to record
their second album. Atter an extended break, and an enourmous amount ot set- backs, in August 2005 the recording was complete. The new album tentatively enti-
tled The Lasttages." is more structured, melodic, and mature than the first album does, however, still captures the intensity that Slaves of Freedom have been
known for.
