(8 Dec 2014) PRINCE WILLIAM SPEAKS OUT ABOUT ILLEGAL WILDLIFE TRADE IN WASHINGTON
Prince William addressed the World Bank Monday (8 DEC. 2014) during his stateside visit which included trips to both New York City and Washington, D.C.
The Duke of Cambridge spoke about the harmful effects of the illegal wildlife trade.
He made a plea to members of the World Bank, and the audience gathered there on Monday, to help eradicate illegal wildlife trafficking.
"I am determined not to let the world's children grow up on a planet where our most iconic and endangered species have been wiped out, impoverishing us all," Prince William said. "I hope you will join me."
He also announced that he would be leading a task force under the organization United for Wildlife to "break the chain between suppliers and consumers."
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are making their first official visit to the U.S. since a 2011 trip to California.
While William took a day trip to Washington, his wife Kate Middleton visited a child care center in the Harlem neighborhood of New York. Later Monday evening they will together attend a Brooklyn Nets basketball game.
