Advanced lenses are so life-changing for the patient because it's really an opportunity for a patient to get rid of their glasses and improve their quality of life.
Kimberly was really the ideal patient for surgery. The day of surgery it's very normal to be a little nervous, but she was not nervous. She was just so excited to get this lens and to be able to see clearly without glasses.
My name is Kimberly, and I've had the pleasure of working at Center for Sight for 11 years. And my position I think of is more as an educator. So once the patient has met with the surgeon and they've reviewed all the testing and determined what lenses their candidates for I get to sit down with the patient and help them decide what vision is going to be best for them for the rest of their life.
Because of her desire to be as Glasses free as possible combined with her history of having a previous eye surgery in the past, I thought that the light adjustable lens would be the best option for her.
I couldn't wait to have this lens and be able to tell the patients first hand what to expect during the surgery, what to expect the day after, and it was amazing. Even with my eyes still dilated I could run downstairs and sit at my computer and I saw. And I was just over the moon.
Before surgery I was actually up to wearing 3.5 readers and that's pretty bad. I couldn't see the computer, I couldn't see paper, people's faces that were sitting right next to me were blurry without the glasses. And then all of a sudden I started to notice the night time vision started to become affected as well. And that really became concerning. Because I would hear my patience say I don't feel comfortable driving at night. And I pulled out one night and was like oh my gosh, now I know what my patients are talking about. So I knew it was time.
The next day after surgery she actually saw better than 20/20, which is really exciting, she read on the 20/10 line. And then we gave her a few weeks to heal and then about 3 weeks after surgery we started doing small adjustments to sharpen up her reading vision.
This is also a great lens for patients who want to collaborate and work closely with their surgeon to achieve their personal best. And the reason for that is because every week we're able to make small adjustments that help give them either sharper distance vision or tune up their reading so that they can do everything that they desire in their life.
After working for eleven years, of course I know all of the surgeons and every one of them are amazing. And fortunately Dr Matthews did a prior procedure for me. So she took away the difficult part of who am I going to pick, and she's amazing and I'm so glad she did my surgery. But I have to say even if I didn't work here all of our surgeons are so good I would still come to Center For Sight to have any procedure done. It is just amazing that I'm helping other people realize; I had it done, I'm so excited and I loved my surgeon. And the surgery went very well. I feel like there's nothing I can’t see.
