This is a short introduction to Indian Temple Architecture from Madhya Pradesh.These monuments were built during the reign of Chandela and Kacchapaghata dynasty from 10th century AD to 13th cenruty AD.
The Khajuraho Group of Monuments is a group of Hindu temples and Jain temples in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, India. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Sahastrabahu Temple or Harisadanam temple, is an 11th-century twin temple in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India.Near the Gwalior Fort and dedicated to Vishnu in his Padmanabha form, like most Hindu and Jain temples in this region, it is mostly in ruins and was badly damaged from numerous invasions and wars. It was built in 1093 by King Mahipala of the Kachchhapaghata dynasty, according to an inscription found in the larger of the twin temple. The twin temples are situated in the Gwalior Fort.
Garhi padavali temple at Morena is one of the marvelous hidden gem of medieval Indian architecture with mesmerizing sculpture on the cellings of remaining Mukha mandapa. It was also built during the rule of Kachchhapaghata dynasty.
The Chausath Yogini Temple, Morena, also known as Ekattarso Mahadeva Temple, is an 11th-century temple located in Morena district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the few well-preserved Yogini temples in the country. The temple is formed by a circular wall with 64 chambers and an open mandapa in the centre, separated by a courtyard which is circular in shape, where Shiva is deified. According to an inscription dated to 1323 CE (Vikram Samvat 1383), the temple was built by the Kachchhapaghata king Devapala (r. c. 1055 – 1075).It is said that the temple was the venue of providing education in astrology and mathematics based on the transit of the Sun.
