Are you looking for unique places in Europe you can visit on a budget? In this Transylvania by train vlog, we’re taking a day trip from Brasov to the neighboring town of Sinaia to check out, the city’s best-known landmark, Peles Castle!

We took a train from Brasov to Sinaia. The journey was quick and only took us one hour to reach Sinaia, the train tickets were $4 per person! Getting to Sinaia is easy by train since it is on the main line between Bucharest and Braşov. It was up there with being one of the best train rides in Europe on a budget.

Sinaia is one of Romania's finest holiday resorts, located deep into the Carpathian Mountains. In the late 19th century King Charles I of Romania chose Sinaia as his summer residence and built the fabulous Peles Castle. At Peles Castle, we chose the cheapest ticket option. It only allowed us to see the ground floor of the castle. The tickets cost $11 per person, a great value for a unique place in Europe on a budget.

Next, we headed to Pelișor Castle which was nearby Peles Castle. The Pelisor castle is part of the vast architectural ensemble created by King Carol I, along the Peles river’s valley. It was built between 1899 and 1902, as a residence for the Royal Heirs to the throne of Romania, Prince Ferdinand, and Princess Marie.

We quickly stopped by to admire the beautiful Sinaia Monastery and learned that it houses the earliest Romanian translation of the Bible, dated 1668!
