If you wear an upland vest to hunt, then you should wear that vest to shoot clays. Having that consistent point where the butt of the shotgun contacts your shoulder will improve your success afield. When we're on the clay range we try to simulate shooting in the field. (That's why you'll also see us practicing on the skeet range instead of the sporting clays course -- the bulk of upland shots are quartering away or straight away).

Most of these things we do without thinking. But since we've been instructing more and more people in how to prepare for wild birds, we try to slow things down and explain how we practice and prepare for the season.

We try to take out as many variables as possible when practicing so that we can focus on becoming better shooters. Even this brand new Benelli 828U 20 Gauge, first time shooting it.
