The citation for this particular medal, called the "Silver Shield," is simply: excel under duress. All three tasks necessary to earn the medal are certainly associated with such a situation in this game.
Task one: get 10 kills while wearing a gas mask. Now for this particular task, you don't necessarily have to protect yourself from actual attacks from gas grenades while completing it. Just wear it, get your kills, and you're a third of the way there. The only real challenge is you can only hipfire when your gas mask is on. Just play as an assault, equip either the MP 18 or Automatico, and you'll finish this in no time.
Task two is, by far, the hardest: get 10 kills while you're on fire. Obviously, you have to worry about burning to death while also trying to add to your kill total. My plan of action for this task was to play as scout class so I can shoot a flare gun into the ground and run into it, equip the M1903 Experimental as a primary weapon which is one of the few in this class that offers semi-automatic fire, and hope there's an enemy nearby to care of with either that or my sidearm. Let's just say that this was the biggest slog of these three.
Finally, there's task three: get 10 kills with the Cover specialization equipped. This reduces the effect's of enemy suppressive fire by 25 percent. Given the ease of accomplishing this final task to unlock the medal compared to the previous one, it's almost kind of anticlimactic. But I sure felt excited and relieved when the medal graphic appeared on the screen at Sinai Desert.
