US hiring slowed sharply in July and the unemployment rate rose to the highest level in nearly three years. That data triggered a famed recession indicator dubbed the "Sahm rule." The mastermind behind the gauge, former Fed economist Claudia Sahm says while the US isn’t in a recession, “we’re not headed in a good direction.” She spoke on Bloomberg Radio with Tom Keene and Damian Sassower on "Bloomberg Surveillance."
