The news that Brandon Sanderson was working on a Mistborn script got a lot of fans excited and curious. I decided to make this trailer not only feed into that excitement but to show an idea of what the movie could look like.
For the cast, Vin is played by Ally Ioannides, from Into the Badlands. Her face, hair, and action scenes were a perfect fit. Adding shots of Maisie Williams, from Game of Thrones, running around helped flesh out Vin in this trailer.
Kelsier is played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, from Game of Thrones. Not only does he look like the perfect Kelsier, but he’s also in a ton of movies that lend themselves to a fantasy setting.
I thought it was important to add a voice-over to help sell the fact that it was an actual trailer. For that, I used Micheal Kramer’s voice, who narrates these books.

The hardest part of making this video was finding footage that looked like ash was falling from the sky. Also getting a shot of an Inquisitor or someone pushing coins would have been awesome too.
