Boris Johnson, pictured emerging from his north London this morning, left and being driven to central London, right, delivered his first statement after Britain voted for Brexit, saying Britain has 'a glorious opportunity' outside of the EU. He sought to reassure young Remain voters that the historic referendum does not mean we are 'turning our backs to Europe' and instead of 'isolationism' he said Brexit gave the UK the opportunity to 'find our voice in the world again'. Standing alongside fellow Brexit leaders - the Labour MP Gisela Stuart and Tory Justice Secretary Michael Gove, Mr Johnson said the EU was 'a noble idea for its time' but was 'not longer right for this country' as he branded Brussels 'too remote, too opaque and not not accountable enough to the people it is meant to serve'. The former Mayor of London delivered a stirring pitch to be Prime Minister of a new 'great' Britain outside the EU following David Cameron's dramatic announcement earlier this morning that he will step down within three months.
