Dvar frontline fighting; Sarajevo shelling worsens
The Croatian army is advancing on Bosnian Serb positions in
western Bosnia and heavy fighting was underway around the
Serb-held town of Dvar on Monday (21/8). Croatian troops were
bombarding Bosnian-Serb positions with artillery and there were
fierce firefights. Meanwhile the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo
suffered its heaviest day of shelling for weeks on Tuesday (22/8).
At least four people have been killed and 29 injured in a series
of artillery attacks throughout the day - believed to be the work
of Bosnian Serb gunners. The only good news for the city's
beleaguered residents was the arrival of the first of three aid
convoys financed by the Saudi government. The convoy brought 600
tons of vital food suplies including flour, sugar and cooking oil.
