In this talk, Professor Matthew Christ (Indiana) revisits his influential 1994 article, 'Herodotean kings and historical inquiry', originally published in Classical Antiquity. Professor Christ discusses his broader research interests in Greek historiography and classical Athenian democracy, before turning to some of the major themes of the paper, notably Herodotus' extended focus on the enterprise of inquiry.
