Samay Baji is a traditional Newari food platter prepared and eaten during festival seasons like Dashain and Jatras. It consists of varieties of side dishes eaten with chiura (beaten rice).

Ingredients
Bhuti (Black eyed peas curry)
300 gms (1 cup) dried black eyed peas (after soaking in water becomes one large bowl)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp red chili powder
2-3 tbsp olive oil (Mustard oil better)
Aalu sadheko (Spiced Potato)
2 boiled medium potatoes
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp red chili powder
2 tbsp olive oil (Mustard oil better)
Bhatmaas or Musya (Brown or black soybean)
300 gms (1 cup) brown/black soybean seeds
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp red chili powder
2 cloves of garlic thinly sliced
1 inch of ginger sliced
2 tbsp olive oil (Mustard oil better)
Wuaucha or Saag (American Spinach)
2 bunch of Spinach
1 tsp salt
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp cumin powder
Khen (Fried boiled eggs)
1 egg per serving
1 tsp olive oil
1/3 tsp turmeric powder
pinch of salt and cumin powder
Chicken choila ( Spiced chicken breast)
