FAQ here -
Q: What is dead eye painting?
A: It’s the red X’s that are marked on enemies in dead eye. You can call them whatever you want, but the game calls it painting. So that’s what I’ll refer to it as.
Q: Why can’t I paint automatically?
A: After the mission ‘Pouring Forth Oil - IV’ you unlock manual painting as Arthur. To paint a target on console, enter dead eye and then press RB/R1 when aiming at a target. I don’t know what the controls on PC or Stadia are.
Q: What about Jack or the Online protagonist?
A: Jack shares his dead eye with John. The Online protagonist has the same as Arthur’s.
Q: Who’s better? Arthur or John?
A: if you’re worried about getting nerfed in the epilogue, don’t worry. They play the exact same, gunplay wise. The rate of painting is entirely dependent on the player after the mission ‘Pouring Forth Oil - IV’. John only paints slower than Arthur in this video because of me. John inherits all of Arthur’s stats as soon as you take control of John. In-universe, Arthur is a better shootist than 1907 John is though.
Q: Did you know high honour and low honour have different sounds?
A: Yes. But the difference is so small that I didn’t think it was significant enough to bring up. I also didn’t have the heart to lower the honour. It’s a cool detail though.
Q: Did you shoot the guy at the end after the video ended?
A: …yes.
