Amid the energy crisis gripping Uzbekistan in Central Asia, the traditional "sandal," a heating table, is becoming popular helping locals survive the cold temperatures. The sandal is a low wooden table covered with a blanket and has a source of heat underneath, typically from charcoal.
Residents in Russia have also been struggling with cold in over two dozen regions without heating as the country's infrastructure struggles with frigid temperatures.
