Hello!
It’s been a while since my last post. In the past two years, it was tough for most small business owners. We also had a very difficult time. I had to close my store and moved everything back home. Despite this I was still very happy for the new change, like most people I am enjoying work from home!
I hope you could enjoy this new video. Like all my other videos, the purpose was not lecturing. I hope it worked as an inspiration for you, so it could give you some ideas for soap making. It is fun to try different things in soap making especially for those things they told you “NEVER TRY”!
Background music is created and copyright by my son Ryan Lee - "Ryan's left toe"
This time I tried to use soap volcano to imitate the cake rising effect. ”Soap Volcano" would normally occur during the following conditions:
1.When high % of hard oil(s) is/are presented.
2.High temperature during mixing.
3.Warm isolated environment after molding.
4.Some ingredients such as alcohol, milk, honey or some specific type of essential oil or fragrance oil is involved.

Room temperature while mixing: Both Oil and lye were below 86°F/30°C. Blend until light traced. Set oven to 300°F/150°C. Turn off oven and leave soap to cure inside the oven. The soap raised but also shrank once cooled down.

4th Attempt - Alien Brain Texture
Mixing: Both Oil and lye were around 135~155°F/55~65°C. Blend until light/medium traced. Set oven to 300°F/150°C. Turn off oven and leave soap to cure inside the oven. The soap raised and didn’t shrank too much. Texture liked “alien-brain”. Which was really closed to baking cupcake texture.
