Marente van der Valk is a self-taught chef and food designer who links her background in industrial design to her cooking approach. Currently on residency at The Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, Van der Valk approaches food as a way to foster social connection between people. Through her previous work with women who migrated to the UK, she has developed a diverse cooking style—ranging from Indonesian soto soup to simple, well crafted vegetable dishes.
