Jeanine S. Ruiz - November 24, 2022 - Anthony’s Cari-Jazz Artiste of the Day
Jeanine S. Ruiz is a Composer, Arranger, Musical Director, Producer, Manager, Sound Engineer and Performer from Trinidad and Tobago. Born on 12th April 1992, Jeanine first tried her hand at the cuatro at six years old. She obtained a BA Degree in Musical Arts at The University of the West Indies and graduated with First Class Honours in 2014. She obtained a BA Degree in Musical Arts at The University of the West Indies and graduated with First Class Honours in 2014.
Throughout her years of performing, Jeanine has played with multiple cultural bands such as Amantes De Parranda (performed for the King and Queen of Spain 2009), Nadia Batson and SASS (toured 2013-2016), Rikki Jai and the Jaimastarz (2017), Musical Director for La Casa de Fusión (2016-present), Musical Arranger for Los Alumnos De San Juan (2017 to present), Musical Director and Band Manager for Nailah Blackman and Sokah (2018 to present) and many others. She continues to explore and contribute music with a passion.
Due to her several videos on YOUTUBE, Jeanine caught the ear of film Director Darisha J. Beresford who commissioned her to score the film, The Cutlass (2017).
In 2018, Jeanine launched her first and highly anticipated album, ‘This Is Me’. The album featured the musicians, Azriel Bahadoor (Drums and Percussion), Aaron Low Chew Tung (Fretless Bass), and Jemel Patrice (Bass). The music contains Caribbean influences such as Parang, Soca, Afro rhythms and so on, and also genres of the world like Jazz, R&B. Electronic music and much more. It can’t be classified as one genre.
Recently, Jeanine released the Soca Parang song, ‘Island Christmas’.
