This sonata is one of my favorites with such lovely melodies and ideas. The piece was edited and revised by Béla Bartók. This performance is largely based on Bartók's ideas for interpretation with numerous tempo changes, dynamics, accidentals, and articulation suggestions. He writes out trills starting on the lower note. I prefer starting on the upper note as is traditional for Baroque music. There are only a couple of brief indications for pedaling. No pedal is used in the recording. Durations were edited for legato and to be accurate with what Scarlatti wrote. The painting of water reflections is by Mark Allison.
