I made this robot (during a Robotics camp) using Arduino robotics platform. And it uses a Ultrasonic Ping Sensor, and infrared sensor to navigate simple mazes. The algorithm I used basically goes forward until it hits a wall, and after the infrared 'sees' the wall, the ultrasonic sensor sends out a ping in both left and right directions (which then bounces off the walls back to the sensor), and calculates which is farther, and turns in that direction. Eventually completing the maze.
