On 27 September 2022, Development Initiatives (DI) and the CALP Network launched DI’s latest report, providing a comprehensive and unique assessment of the state of tracking cash and voucher assistance (CVA) used during humanitarian crises.
During this event we:
Explored what data is currently available on humanitarian CVA, what that data tells us, and how to harness it to improve coordination and delivery for donors and implementing organisations.
Shared recommendations that reinforce the need for better data and strengthened reporting platforms to facilitate a better quality and targeted response for those most in need.
The event was moderated by Paul Harvey (Partner, Humanitarian Outcomes), Dr Unni Krishnan provided opening remarks (Global Humanitarian Director, CALP), and featured the following presentations:
‘Tracking cash and voucher assistance’, Niklas Rieger (Interim Head of Research & Analysis, Development Initiatives)
‘Cost-efficiency of cash programs: Design best practices and context-sensitive benchmarking’, Caitlin Tulloch (Associate Director, Best Use of Resources, International Rescue Committee)
Presentations were followed by a discussion with panelists who work within the CVA space, including:
Ryan Beech (Programme and Policy Officer, World Food Programme)
Frederick Atenaga (Information Management Officer, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs)
Chloé de Soye (Policy Officer on Cash Transfers, Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations)
