Today we have something very special! We are playing the original Five Nights at Freddy's and archiving it! This is the game that started it all! Of course next month the new FNAF movie will be released and I thought it would be cool to archive some of the older FNAF titles to celebrate. Because even though I have archived FNAF Security Breach, Sister Location and Help Wanted, I have not archived the original yet!
Though the first game is fairly simple, it cannot be overstated on how much this changed the indie horror genre and basically birthed the mascot horror genre in gaming. It spawned thousands of fan games and the lore become more complex with each entry. I remember well when this released and how I watched multiple YouTubers struggle through the five nights. And today it was I who got to take a seat in the security office and keep out Freddie, Bonnie, Chica and of course Foxy.
The first entry is a classic and though it might look a little rough, its still fun to play and not too frustrating. It eases you in and the mechanics are easy to understand once you know them. It does become a bit frantic towards the later nights, but nothing as hectic as FNAF 2 or the ending of Sister Location.
All in all its a classic that will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year and I am happy to finally archive this and put it next to the younger FNAF family members.
