In this video, Dr. Danesh is working with a patient who suffered an injury to her right acromioclavicular, or AC, joint. This is where the collarbone, or clavicle, and part of the shoulder blade (scapula) meet, which forms part of the shoulder joint.
In the video, Dr. Danesh first examines the injury under ultrasound. Then, using the ultrasound as a guide, he performs a series of injections in the affected area.
Prolotherapy involves injecting an irritant to a damaged joint or another area, which triggers the body's natural healing response. Surgery is commonly recommended for this type of injury. However, the prolotherapy injections will eliminate the need for surgical procedures, enabling the patient to return to normal activities in a much shorter time.
