Members of the LGBTQ+ Community in Columbia, S.C. held a candlelight vigil to honor the victims of the mass shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs, CO this past week.
CUBN Columbia, S.C.- Members of the LGBTQ+ community held a candlelight vigil at the South Carolina State House to honor five people killed and 19 others injured at Club Q in Colorado Springs, CO this past week.
Tonight’s vigil included speakers from the Harriette Hancock LGBTQ Center, Sheriff Leon Lott, and the pastor of The Way Church who called on the members of the statehouse to pass an anti-hate crime bill to protect members of the LGBTQ+ community.
About 150 participants marched from the state house to the Capital Club where drag queen and host “Gouda” who spearheaded the event got emotional when speaking about the similarities between the Capital Club in Columbia and Club Q in Colorado Springs.
