The Comprehensive Plan update includes the Transportation chapter which will be restructured as the Mobility Chapter, incorporating automobile, pedestrian, bus, rail, and trails both on and off-road and all other modes of transportation. The goal of the Mobility Chapter is to create and sustain an environmentally friendly, multi-modal transportation system that meets the demands for intra- and inter-county trips; is integrated closely with existing and planned development; and provides a network of safe, efficient, and accessible modes of travel. When adopted by the Board of County Supervisors, the 2040 Comprehensive Plan will be the blueprint for future growth and development in Prince William County.
