"I started singing when I was about 4 years old. I was singing Jesus Loves Me at a Sunday School concert. I wasn't singing very loud and the pianist decided to play softer. However, when she played softer, I sang softer! I also sang in the children's choir in the Anglican Church.
I took piano lessons for 10 years, and was told by an adjudicator at a Festival that I could play my way around the world, but I wasn't interested. I hated practicing.
In 1961, I married Everett Cook and we had three children, Paul, Steven & Janice. Our two sons are married to two sisters, and between them, we were blessed with six wonderful grandchildren. We are so proud of our children and our grandchildren.
In the late 70's I went to work at Bridgewater Farmer's Co-op. I worked there for 22 years.
After my retirement, I decided to do two things. One was to join the United Church Choir and return to Tai Chi. I did both. Singing in the choir gave me the confidence to sing at "Jams' and began my singing career at Maitland Community Hall. I love to sing and find myself humming to myself in the stores when I'm shopping."
