Victorian Edinburgh's children lived in such squalid conditions that it can barely be described as an existence at all. You will witness a scale of poverty difficult to comprehend – one where children (that scarcely ever attended school), wore scraps of clothing and rarely saw anything of life other than the dingy holes where they slept and the filthy gutters of the closes in which they suffered to languish their days. This was the life of 19th Century slum kids in Edinburgh.
