Since Lent, I have with mixed consistency been trying One Meal A Day (OMAD) during the work week weekdays (Monday-Friday). My one meal was typically dinner since I share that mealtime with my family. I then just ate normally (or sometimes whatever I wanted) on the weekends. Now I am trying to get more consistent with it after about a month or two of being up and down in my dietary consistency. I am also trying to get things rolling with physical activity again.
What better way to create a burst of excitement for new physical activity and exercise than to buy some new shoes. In the past, I might have gone to my local running store and plopped down $100+ on a pair of new Brooks, Altras, or New Balance. However, this time I knew I was a long way from actually running again and didn't think that would be as wise an investment at this juncture.
Instead, I checked out my local Wal-Mart where they carry the Avia brand (a mild step up from the Athletic Works brand). I bought both a pair of New Balance dad shoe knock-offs for general wear during errands or activities and a pair of Avia Hightail running shoes/trainers for actual workout mileage. Both pairs of shoes together cost less than half the price for a high end name brand running shoe. As long as they don't cause any major problems or send up any red flags, I can buy about 4 or 5 pair of these workout shoes for the price of a single pair of the high end name brand!
Towards the middle and end of this video I give some first impressions on the Avia Hightails (or as I like to call them Hokums). So far so good. Plan to update later with a longer term impression after possibly 3 or 6 months of usage. (Hopefully, I will have lost a bit more weight by then as well!)
