Scientists from the National Science Foundation (NSF) built an Earth-sized telescope by linking radio dishes around the world to capture the first image of a black hole, revealed at a press conference on Wednesday.
"We have seen what we thought was unseeable."
In April 2017, the eight ground-based radio telescopes swivelled to look at the super massive black hole at the center of Messier 87, a galaxy in Virgo constellation, taking advantage of a "cosmic opportunity" to capture the images.
