Christopher has a rare disease called Bile Acid Synthesis Disorder, with less than 50 reported cases globally.
For his entire lifetime, Christopher requires medicine that costs at least S$7,000 a month. Without continuous treatment, toxic bile acids will build up and damage the liver, ultimately causing it to fail, and requiring early liver transplantation. As he grows older and gains weight, a higher dose is required, further increasing the financial strain.
His family worries each day about their ability to afford Christopher’s treatment, and his financial means in the future.
