Reminiscing their days of the Indian Military Academy (IMA), classmates of the historic first batch of IMA took a trip down memory lane accentuating the unforgettable experiences shared by all of them. The batch that was the first to graduate post independence on December 21, 1947 humbly prides itself on having produced the maximum number of Army Commanders and Generals. Recalling the remark made by the Chief of the Army Staff to the then prime minister in 1971 during the Bangladesh Liberation War, ‘If you want defeat, go get another chief,’ one of the officers remembered the noble leadership of Field Marshal Manekshaw. Amid wars and insurgencies, the camaraderie between officers of the batch was reflected upon at the 75th Anniversary. The occasion formed a sanguine aura coupled with recollections of the sublime past.
