Final thoughts ➡ Overall, it’s very important to know that the free version of Malwarebytes should only ever be used in conjunction with another antivirus. This is because it doesn’t provide real-time protection. Real-time protection is absolutely necessary to protect your device from cyber threats. It only takes a few minutes of active malware for attackers to significantly compromise your device. The Malwarebytes Premium version can be used as a standalone antivirus but it doesn’t offer as many extra cybersecurity features compared to other anti-viruses at a similar price point, their level of protection is about average, and their customer service can be improved. So, if I were to choose a Malwarebytes plan to use as a standalone antivirus, I would choose the Premium plan. But many folks choose to use the free version of Malwarebytes for regular scanning alongside other anti-viruses for real time protection.
