This is a capture of me and a friend playing through the arcade version of Double Dragon II: The Revenge. This was played through the Arcade Archives on the Nintendo Switch. I'm player one (Billy) and Drew is player two (Jimmy).
Arc System Works is apparently continuing its support for the Nintendo Switch since the company just released the arcade version of Double Dragon II. I previously posted a two-player playthrough of the original arcade game earlier this year, so here's the recently released sequel. Hopefully Double Dragon III releases on the Switch as well.
Although I've always been a huge Double Dragon fan, I never had the chance to play the actual arcade games as a kid. My first experience with the Double Dragon series was through the original NES game, which I probably received for Christmas of 1989 (if I'm remembering correctly). I then rented Double Dragon II and III for the NES and played those games with my brother. They were some of my favorite games.
It's neat to finally be able to play the original arcade version of Double Dragon II, and after doing so, I can see where the NES version got its inspiration, including the music. This game moves incredibly fast though, so I accidentally fell off the bottom of some stages multiple times. While this game is fun, it's largely a rehash of the original game, so it lacks a certain amount of inspiration. It's also odd seeing Jimmy Lee wearing a white uniform instead of his trademark red clothes. Enjoy the footage.
Recorded with the Elgato Game Capture HD60 and the Switch's HDMI cable at native 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. I'm using a Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa joystick and Drew is using a Pro Controller.
