In this first installment of the woodworking series, I unbox and play around with the mini $40 Amazon lathe. This one is the 200W CNC Mini Lathe Machine Tool DIY Woodworking Wood lathe Milling machine Grinding Polishing Beads Drill Rotary Tool Set from YWY.

I had few walnut boards that I cut and started to sand. It is very easy to set up and get started.

I am not sponsored by anyone. Just trying this out for my own woodworking/ring turning hobby. I am still trying to learn by attending the youtube university :D few more wasteful youtube nights and I should start to produce some good looking rings and small sized items.

This machine cost me around $45, however right after I purchased it, I noticed that this particular one went to $62. But this looks like a very generic one that they sell under 100+ different brands..Just go to amazon and search for cheap mini lathe and you should be able to get plenty options.

Overall, having only spent about 15-20 minutes with the machine, I already like it. It will be very useful when turning rings as my attempt to only use rotary tool ended up in a very poor ring shape.
